I always knew I wanted to be a midwife, and I began my career in birth-work with Heart and Hands Midwifery Intensives. It was there I learned about Doulas. I signed up for the next available DONA training. That was in January of 2001. The next month I attended my first birth, and the rest is history. I was hooked. I have attended about 130 births since then.

Every woman who wants a homebirth should have one, but homebirth is not for everyone. Some women do not have the desire for a homebirth and others may not be able to because of a health condition. Women birthing in the hospital can benefit greatly from having a doula.

My education as a midwife gives me a deeper and more thorough knowledge of prenatal care, birth, and postpartum care. After you hire me to be your doula, I will be available to you via phone or email to answer any questions as they come up. We will meet at least twice prenatally to discuss your wishes for your birth, and so I can give you any additional education about the birth process you need. Two weeks before your due date I am on call for you 24-hours a day. Once you are in labor, I will be in touch via telephone until the time when you feel you need me to be with you. After that, I stay with you until the birth of your baby. I will not leave for a shift change and you will not get the doula on call. You can count on me to be there for your birth. We meet again after the birth of your baby to discuss the birth and answer any questions you might be having.

I attend births in Santa Cruz and Santa Clara Counties. I live with my two daughters and
their father in Felton California.

I look forward to meeting you at your complementary interview.
