Homebirth Safety
In June 2005 the British Medical Journal published a study on the outcomes of planned homebirths in North America with Certified Professional Midwives. Researchers found that planned homebirth for low-risk women using CPMs were associated with lower rates of medical intervention, but similar intrapartum and neonatal mortality to that of low-risk hospital births in the US. The study also showed decreased use of interventions including a less than 4% cesarean rate, compared with the national average of nearly 30%. You can read the full study: Click Here

Benefits of Homebirth

• Maximum control over your body and birth experience
• The comfort of your own home aids in relaxation and enjoyment
• The freedom to give birth anywhere in any position
• Mother and child are never separated, thereby strengthening their initial bond and encouraging breastfeeding
• Fathers are welcome to catch their babies and to be as involved in the birthing process as they desire
• Siblings and loved ones are always welcome
• Your home is clean. (Homes don’t have the volumes of germs, sick people, and blood and body fluids that the hospitals do; therefore the risk of infection is greatly reduced.)
• Nearly 1 in 3 hospital births end in C-Section
• Your options are based on what is best for you and your baby, rather than hospital schedules and regulations
